Puri Jagannath
Jagannath Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu, located at Puri in Odisha. The temple is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus and is one of the four holy dhams. The temple complex, located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, is the largest temple in India and one of the largest religious complexes in the world.
It was built in the 12th century by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. The temple is primarily known for its yearly Ratha Yatra festival in which the three deities of the temple are taken out in a grand procession with huge chariots from the outer court of the temple to the Gundicha Temple, located two kilometers away. The festival is celebrated on the second day of shukla paksha (bright fortnight) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July).
FAMOUS :
Jagannath Temple is most famous for its annual Rath Yatra, or chariot procession. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and devotees fill the streets of Puri to get a glimpse of the three deities as they are drawn in giant wooden chariots. This festival is highly revered and happens every year in July/August. Other important festivals celebrated at the temple include the Snana Yatra, an annual bathing ceremony of the deities, and the Niladri Bije, the ceremonial installation of Lord Jagannath as the King of Puri. The temple is also a major pilgrimage center of Hinduism and is considered one of the four sacred dhamas or pilgrimage destinations.

RATH YATRA:
The Rath Yatra is a reminder of the spiritual connection between the deities and devotees and an opportunity for worshipers to get blessings from Lord Jagannath. The Rath Yatra is also an important to mark the return of the deities to the main temple. It is believed that after the reunion of the deities with their devotees, Puri will be blessed with abundance and prosperity.
MY OPINION:
The Rath Yatra of Jagannath Temple is an awe-inspiring religious festival that is celebrated every year in Odisha with great enthusiasm and joy. The Rath Yatra symbolizes Lord Jagannath’s journey to visit his devotees and reassure them of his ever-present divine protection. It signifies the eternal bond between Lord Jagannath and his devotees and that no matter how far away he may seem, he is ultimately always with them. The dazzling spectacle of the Rath Yatra is truly a sight to behold, and it is an experience that no devotee can miss.
